What is the purpose of this Mod ?

You can choose via cvar 'flamestyle' in your autoexec.cfg which flame type you want:

How to use the new cvars:
add them into your   autoexec.cfg   (if you dont add it, the default value will automatically be used)

set flamestyle 1

0 = original polygon flames
1 = improved sprite flames (no fps impact)   ==  default
2 = particle flames    (fps impact)


The Purpose is to have more beautiful Fire/Flame in Quake.
By default sprite flames from Lord Havocs DPmod is enabled. But an improved version.
I edited the .spr32 files to make them look a little more realistic.



Any limitations ?

Yes, you can only see the beautiful new fire/flames in Episodes/Maps, which dont bring their
own progs.dat. At least for all the rest (and thats a lot !), you can enjoy it.

He did the sprite-flame-code, which I extended for the particle-flame-code and cvar usage.
